Day 1

In Jamila’s book, she said don’t move forward until you don’t go in the negative paying your bills. I am trying to get out of debt and I can’t even pay my bills on time. My money just be flowing. Like my personality. Is it the Sagittarius or the ADHD? Anyway, my monies is my new hyperfixation.

Today, I actually sat down and put everything in Notion that I have spent so far. I am currently -$235. That is only in my Ally Account. I told myself that Ally will be the only money app other than Capital One that I will be Using by the end of February. NO more Cash App to make transactions. It is very hard for me to keep track of my money because I have it all spread out. For ease, Ally will be the only account we speak of.

What is my income going to look like?

Starting tomorrow, I will be making $18 an hour plus tips. I asked around and the average is about $300 a week. Now with taxes, I will be bringing home roughly $12 an hour. Though I am full time, I am going to go off of the low end and say I will be working about 35 hours. That iis $420. That and $200 in tips( went down just to be safe) I will be bringing home $620 a week. That is more than I have brought home since before I had to pay for my own insurance…. Which is the catch. I have to figure out that part of life. BUUUT I am not going to worry about it today.

TO THE NUMBERS

$620 x 4 weeks = $2,480 a month

Call it girl math if you want. I am using this as my base because working in the restaurant world is a little different when it comes to the coins. There will definitely be more weeks than not that I bring home more than $620. This is just a base so I can Make a budget for my bills.

How much are my bills?

Rent - $875…. it is actually $815, but after the fees for using a card…..

Lights - $120

Fiber - $71

Squarespace - $33… my goal is to have enough homies loving my content, that my site is paid for.

Pet’s best - $19… Lennnox has insurance and I don’t. Womp womp

Apple - $54… AppleOne and Apple Care for some devices…

Chewy - $125… Lennox needs his things…No, I will not cut back anymore and reunion his luxurious life.

Netflix - $14… my family does the family thang.

Student Loans -$148… they are differed until March, but then I have been seeing all these “what they gone do posts”…. Another topic for another day.. Ima pay these loans though

Tithing….$250….yes it is my goal to give

So when it comes to the MUSTS in my life.We have a total of $1,459. COVERED

Now here is the stuff that varies and I need to pay more attention too.

Transportation - $150 …I am currently carless so I have to be careful with Ubers and whatnot. This is a big decrease from the WAPPPING $400 I was spending on gas for my daddy’s truck last month… And waaaaaaaay less for the Kona which was costing over $700. I will take this dub especially for the cause.

With me switching jobs I am 1.3 miles away so I should be okay with$150 and I live on the bus line. Also, buses are free in Kansas City so yay yay.

Food - $200 - day one and I’m already at $191…I am going to do my best to keep my food costs low.

That puts me at $1,709 total. If I am bringing home $2,480, that gives me $771 to enjoy life and pay off some things. I am going to give myself a $400 allowance and use $371 to get all of the things caught up  and start paying off some debt.

For extra notes. I do get paid weekly, so until everything is paid up and I have enough in my account just chilling ($2,500 in the checking is the goal for my bill account) I will be paying my bills on a weekly basis. My money be burning a hole in my pocket.

What am I buying with my $400 allowance??

This is where my yoga classes and other little fun things I may decide to do will fall under.

What if my checks are are more than $620?

40% of the money will go to other bills… the goal is listed above for that.

30% will go to debt

10% will go to savings…right now we are saving for a vehicle…

10% Roth IRA

10% will go to the church

Now that I have published this to the entire world…if you pay the fee to see it…all of my numbers let me see how the journey goes.

In about 3 months I will be Jamila’s book up again and be able to go on the next journey stage. Watch me work!

I am using Notion to keep track of things. You can read my blog post on it, or watch the video.

Email me and tell me how your money journey is. Be honest. Be open.
